New details have been released by investigators following Friday's fire on Piedmont Place that resulted in the deaths of three people who were initially reported as unaccounted for before firefighters ultimately found them inside the smoldering home.

Shortly before 6 a.m. on Oct. 4, first responders were called to the 15700 block of Piedmont Place, where there was a reported fire that proved tricky to contain, and during a sweep of the residence, crews found Sameena Begum, 49, a 13-year-old minor and 8-year-old boy.

Investigators said that upon arrival, crews found the home fully engulfed in flames, and part of the roof collapsed, which made it difficult for them to breach the home.

All were Woodbridge residents. No additional injuries were reported, and a second family of three was able to safely escape.

All three victims were taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsies. The father and husband of Begum was not home and at work when the fire broke out.

Police say that the fire, as well as the cause and manner of death remain under investigation late on Friday afternoon, though they noted that the deaths do not appear to be suspicious.
